From Treaty 6

Rooted in Treaty 6. Connected to all of First Nations country.

You’ve arrived, and are you ready to learn? This page brings you history, news, stories, and voices from First Nation communities across the land. We write from the heart of Treaty 6 territory, and this year carries special weight for us, as 2026 marks 150 years since the signing of Treaty 6 in 1876. A century and a half later, the treaty relationship lives on, and so do the stories of the people who carry it forward.

While we’re rooted here, the stories we follow don’t stop at any border because what happens in one Nation matters to us all. From the West Coast to the East, from the North to the prairies, First Nations country is alive with news that deserves to be heard.

Here you’ll find the stories that affect our communities, the decisions being made, the victories being won, and the challenges still being faced. You’ll also find the perspectives you won’t always see in mainstream coverage: stories told by us, for us, with the context and care they deserve. Some days that means breaking news. Other days it’s a deeper look at the issues, the people, and the moments shaping our Nations.

Too often, our stories are told about us instead of by us. This page is one small way of changing that. Every story shared here is shared with respect for the communities involved, for the truth of what happened, and for the readers who deserve more than a headline.
